Hook: Standard Nymph Hook, Size 10-16
Thread: Black 6-0
Tail: Cheek hair from Olive dyed hare’s mask
Rib: Gold Tinsel or Wire
Abdomen: Pale olive or yellow poly dubbing
Thorax: Hare’s Mask fur
Wing Case: Peacock

Step 1: Mount your hook in the vise and wrap the thread to the bend of the hook.

Step 2: Tie in well-marked cheek fur. Leave in guard hairs. Try to remove as much underfur as possible.

Step 3: Form a dubbing loop and spin it tightly to lock it in place.

Step 4: Wrap a secure body, stroking back long hairs. Wrap to mid-shaft.

Step 5: Wrap tinsel to mid shaft and tie off. If you just dub the body without using a dubbing loop, counter wrap it instead of a simple wrap.

Step 6: Tie in the peacock herl.

Step 7: Dub a generous thorax.

Step 8: Pull the peacock herl forward to form the wingcase.

Step 9: Trim the peacock form a neat head, and tie off. When I tie for myself, I don’t usually bother with head cement. But knowing this fly was for public viewing, I tried to make a nice looking head.
