Abdomen: Krystal Flash, 2 Black, 1 Pearl twisted
Thorax: Peacock
Hackle: Starling Breast Feather

Step 1: Mount your hook in the vise and wrap the thread to the bend of the hook.

Step 2: Tie on Zelon shuck, wrapping back to 1/3 of hook shank.

Step 3: Tie in 2 black and 1 pearl Krystal Flash strands. I grip them with my hackle pliers and twist them tightly, but stop before they begin to furl. If you don’t get them tight, they tend to separate as you wind them up the body, which makes the abdomen less durable. Tie off at the 1/3 point.

Step 4: Wrap them up to 1/3 point and tie off.

Step 5: Attach a single peacock herl and wrap a small thorax.

Step 6: Tie off.

Step 7: Select an appropriate size Starling breast feather. Carefully tie it in. The stems are fragile, so don’t feel bad if you break one. I often tie the hackle in before wrapping the thorax. Just depends on the way I am feeling that day.

Step 8: Make a couple wraps then tie off. Wrap a neat head, whip finish and you are done. Take it fishing and catch a lot of fish. I hope you enjoy it. I do.
